The concept for this small space in an inner-city restaurant was to offer viewers a window through to another world, as in the great masterpieces of the ages, which have been painted on fusuma (sliding doors) and byobu (folding screens). The solution to the small space was to install large glass panels with simple frames, and build up the interior using rockwork and moss. The stone water feature provides an offering space, and the plum blossom tree appears as if painted with calligraphic strokes.
